Folly and toil, rending of limb
Sown fields bearing no fruit
Tattered endeavours to none shown

Sorrowful eyes turned to the skies
Fleeting glimpses into what may have been
Of fertile soils birthing great futures
Passing into dark and shades of naught

Burning the fields that you once did sow
With tender hand, eyes filled with prayer
Bearing the silent spores of our demise
Dead fairytales now form molten tombs

Great castles of fortune now lie in ruin
Skeletal structure where once laughter held
Dances through great halls now memory
Spectres reflected in the shades of the discarded

Beneath the mocking light of distant stars
Visions of what once may have been
Descend as poison on blank vacant eyes
The fields of your fortune have become as ash

Burning the fields that you once did sow
The seeds are dead and land filled with rot
The cruel turning of time brings no promise
Of brighter times under clearer skies
Only the inevitable end of all endeavours
